Lettuce Wraps and Sexy Legs

We have a table! I’m so excited to finally share with you some after photos. But first, my meals:

Meal Food Calories
Breakfast Veggie Omelet 325
Lunch Sbarro’s Skinny Slice Pizza 270
Dinner Tomato Basil Wontons 192
Rice 100
Lettuce 5
Ham slices 50
Laughing Cow Cheese wedge 35
Veggies 20
Dessert Fiber One Lemon Bar 90
Total 1087

We were out of milk so my usual cereal didn’t happen. Instead, Daniel made us omelets but they didn’t turn out so pretty so I skipped the picture. We added a little cheese, cucumber, green peppers, and tomatoes to them. For lunch, we were at the mall and starving so we stopped at Sbarro. They had the Skinny Slice which was kind of like a veggie delight with less cheese and more sauce. Pretty tasty!

For dinner I had to redeem myself with something healthy so we had lettuce wraps. I spread a little Laughing Cow cheese right onto the lettuce and then topped it with ham and veggies.

It was actually pretty flavorful all thanks to the cheese. It made the wrap.

As for working out, I did a morning yoga video. It was 20 minutes of moderate stretching. I was going to go running but Daniel and I got so busy that I didn’t find time. I’m making time today though!

Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…. dessert! (Oh, you were expecting those after photos — they’re next!) I found these beauties at the store:

Fiber One lemon bar

It seriously tastes like a lemon bar! Have these been around for a while? I just now discovered them. It was buy 5 for $10 so we also got the Fiber One Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies, Chocolate Chewy Bars, and Trail Mix Chewy bars. I will probably be eating one every day. How could I resist?!

Alright, now for what you all have really been waiting for — or is it just me. I love before and after photos of interior design and DIY! I dork out over it. Seriously, the first blog I ever read was YoungHouseLove. Everything they DIY is beautiful. They’re like my best friends, but we’ve never met…yet. Haha. Ok Here’s the before and afters of my apartment. CAUTION: There are A LOT of photos!

after living room

It was a dark day when we moved in so the before shots are pretty dim.

I’d like to hang some curtains sometime and slipcover the red wingback chair. I’m thinking a gray for the chair and some light airy white curtains. Oh, and those golf clubs will not always be in the corner by the bar. We’re still organizing.

Before living room/kitchen

I am in love with our kitchen. Well, I’m in love with the whole apartment but my previous apartment kitchen was so tiny that it barely had any counter space so living here feels like heaven.

We also have a HUGE bathroom. Well, you couldn’t throw a party in there but Daniel and I don’t bump into each other when we’re in there so that’s something.

Having an updated shower is also a nice perk. No more sliding doors! Ah, the satisfaction of a shower curtain. Downfall is the hooks moving on the shower curtain rod sound like the Blair Witch shrieking. Ok, I’ve never seen the Blair Witch Project, but I imagine this noise happening at some point in that movie. Maybe someday I’ll confirm it.

The bedroom is also really spacious.

I’m purposely not showing the wall to the left of the bed, there’s a desk covered in stuff we need to organize. But the rest of the room is pretty! The opposite wall from the bed is a couple of closets — you can see in the reflection of the mirror. It’s not too exciting. On that wall we’re also using a couple of plastic drawer containers stacked on top of each other as our chest for now until we get one. They’re blue. Enough said.

I’m a little obsessed with the mirror over the bed, can you tell?

Now for the proudest moment — the finished table!

Here’s what it looked like before. Blond wood and all. This was obviously taken at my previous apartment. We’ve been working on updating it for a while!

before table

And now the after! I’m so pleased with the final result. It only took a couple coats of stain, white paint and a lot of polyurethane. And SO much sanding. Worth it.

after kitchenette

We only have three  chairs done so far. We’re not even done sanding the forth one. Now, the little designer in me came out and I had to set the table for some glamour shots.

Do you like our chandelier lamp? We don’t have overhead lighting in that corner so my mom gave us this lamp she wasn’t using. It really brightens up that little corner.

after table

You may remember this post showing the contrast of the new and old chair. I’m still loving the new fabric, especially now that I can see it with the table. The contrast of the dark table top with those white legs is sexy. That’s right, those legs are sexy, table legs that is.

And one more table shot for good measure.

And here’s a view of the whole front area of the apartment.

We still have some work to do but it has really come a long way in one week. I can’t wait to see how this place evolves while we live here.

Ok, now it’s time to workout!

Moving Day

The time has finally come! We have our check-in appointment at 9 this morning and then we can start moving in. It looks like it’s going to be a rainy day though. Boo. We had to move out in rain and now we have to move in with it? So yesterday was another busy day and I apologize for not stopping in.

Friday’s Meals:

Meal Food Calories
Breakfast Cereal 120
Almond milk 30
Lunch Subway Footlong Black Forest Ham on 9 Grain Honey Wheat 650
Subway White Chocolate Macademia Nut Cookie 220
Dinner 1 slice of thin crust cheese pizza 210
Salad pizza topper 30
Saudi Arabian Rice 100
Drinks Pabst 576
Total 1936

Oops! Sometimes you just need a cheat day, right? The beer definitely was not a wise choice.  You may have noticed some new items in my diet. Well, we were at Robert’s house for the part and he has some neighbors from Saudi Arabia that came over and they brought some delicious stuff! Check out what they suggested we put on pizza.

pizza salad

(Yeah you know me, eating before I snap a pic) I can’t even tell you what was in it but it was a creamy veggie(/maybe fruit too?) mix that was pretty good on pizza! Then we had some delicious rice that I believe had a variety of spices in it such as cumin, turmeric, ginger, red pepper, and a slew of others that I didn’t catch. It was really good!

Arabian Rice

Definitely was a fun party — nice and relaxing. Oh and Daniel and I kicked some ass at Beer Pong, in case you were wondering. The shorter table was to my advantage!

Anyway I need to get stuff done before move-in, like move a mattress up some stairs and carry heavy awkward boxes so I’ll be back later with Saturday’s update.

Blue Moose

Is there such a thing as a blue moose? So says the Blue Moose Bar & Grill I went to last night. We were celebrating Daniel’s mother’s birthday. I’ve never heard of it before but there are a few of them located in Kansas. Pretty much everything on the menu sounded good to me! I ended up splitting an order of the Mahi Fish Tacos and the Greek Pizza with Daniel. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the tacos! They were beautiful and delicious but you’ll just have to trust me on that one. I did manage to snap a photo of the sides it came with: black beans and chipotle rice.

The fish tacos were in the “lighter menu” that included dishes under 600 calories. I can’t say the same for the pizza but it was worth every bite. It was topped with creamy artichoke sauce, fresh baby spinach, kalamata olives, red onions, artichokes, mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, mozzarella, provolone, and feta cheese. I love making pizzas at home and I think this one could be doable. The hardest thing would be finding creamy artichoke sauce but I bet there’s recipe out there for it!

After Blue Moose we went to Sheridan’s for some frozen custard. Daniel and I split the Brett’s Caramel Pecan concrete. Satisfying!

Good thing we share it because it was a lot!

Meal Food Calories
Breakfast Cereal 140
Almond milk 30
Lunch Fresh Spinach salad 150
Snack Planter’s Trail mix 150
Dinner Mahi Fish Taco with rice and black beans 295
Half Greek pizza 12” 444
Frozen custard 300
Drink Pucker & Sprite 100
 Total 1609

Yikes. The pizza and frozen custard were probably not the best choices. I also didn’t work out yesterday. I was still staining those chairs! Sanding is taking forever because I keep seeing lighter spots where the stain isn’t absorbing so I sand it down more. The evil Poly Shade blend is so hard to sand off! I did accomplish something though. We finished reupholstering the stools!

Bar Stools after

I was totally down with the light beige color but one of the stools had little black spots all over that would not come off (we bought the stools second hand for $30 together!). We tried using a stain remover but ended up making it worse (the stain remover left an outline where it was applied). We decided it’d be better to just change the fabric. While we were at it we also bought new foam padding for them. Now our tushies have another cushy place to sit!

Even though I didn’t workout yesterday I’m giving you the next installment of the Five Day Workout Plan.

Health My Lifestyle's Five Day Workout Plan Day 3

To make it more challenging use the 30 lb bar resting on your shoulders for squats, 30 lb bar for deadlifts, 20 lb bar for high pulls, and 10 lb for lunges.

These exercises target a lot of the lower body. Definitely do a good stretch afterwards!
